Dear Carthay Circle Residents,

This morning, 3 baby ducklings wandered onto the Carthay School
campus. They entered from the southeast corner of the school near the
Grassy Field (Crescent Heights side between Olympic & San Vicente).

Does someone nearby have a pond which has been attracting duck
families (probably in Carthay Circle near Crescent Heights & San
Vicente or Olympic)? We would like to reunite these ducklings with
their mother since they are not yet self-sufficient.

If you don't have a pond but your neighbor does, please check with
your neighbors!

If the city picks them up, they will be put down.

Who has a pond with a mother duck looking for her ducklings?

Contact Teresa Dahl at 323-552-8999.

Thank you!

Teresa,

If the County/City will put them down, please don't call them! Call
Animal Advocates instead -- 323-651-1336. They will rehab them until
they can care for themselves, and if they are a wild species, will
release them when the time is right. (And, they're right here on
Sweetzer!) You can see their website at http://www.backyardnature.com/cgi-bin/gt/tpl.h,content=517.

I'm kind of crushed for time right now, but if you need help, call me
and I'll see what I might be able to do.

Thanks for taking care of these little ones.

Duckling Update:
Despite the fires, the Malibu-based California Wildlife Center was
able to pick up the ducks this morning. Their mission is to assist in
the rehabilitation and release of sick, injured, or orphaned
wildlife, so they are well suited to the task. The ducks will be
reunited with the outdoors when appropriate so they are in good
hands. Thanks for your suggestions and concern!
