Want to learn more about local government in NC?

Local Government in North Carolina is a free, online textbook, that
describes how North Carolina cities, towns, and counties are organized
and what they do. Each chapter includes definitions of key terms in
the margin for quick reference, articles from local newspapers, and
discussion questions. The book, published by the North Carolina City
and County Management Association and the School of Government, is
designed to complement the 10th grade Civics & Economics curriculum,
but is applicable to anyone, young or old, seeking to learn more about
