The NC Big Sweep and Ocean Conservancy's International Cleanup are under way this month.  These are huge annual cleanup events of our beaches, waterways and even terrestrial areas.  A fun and easy way to get involved in cleaning and greening your community.

So, I wanted to remind you all of opportunities to get involved:

1. Attention divers: contact Discovery Diving about participating in their annual underwater cleanup (Sept 19).  di...@discoverydiving.com

2. Attention Dukees: Contact Cindy Van Dover (cl...@duke.edu) about participating in the Nicholas School cleanup, also Sept 19 (I think).

3. TBA (Friday 9/18 or Monday 9/21) - I plan to lead elementary school classes in a cleanup of Radio Island.  If you're interested in coming along, let me know.

4. Contact Melissa Abbott of the NC State Extension (the Big Sweep coordinator for this area) if you'd like to find a group to volunteer with or lead a cleanup yourself!  (maab...@ncsu.edu)
