The First Apparition – May 13, 1917

Dear Mr. Said,

Today is the feast day of the first apparition of Our Lady of Fatima, 99 years ago…

“A rosary hung from her right hand.”

That was one of the first things that the children of Fatima noticed about their heavenly visitor.

That rosary was Our Lady’s “calling card.”

Apparitions with a message that revealed the solution for the world and all its problems.

In the words of Pope Benedict, the Fatima apparitions “were without doubt, the most prophetic of all of modern apparitions.”

And what was that prophetic solution? None other than her “calling card” – the Rosary.

Now, I know you are busy Anthony, but please let me tell you what my favorite Fatima moment was…

It happened during this first apparition when Our Lady confirmed Catholic doctrine in 3 minutes or less.

Namely, the doctrines of Heaven and Purgatory. Click here to see how she did this.

Now, she would save hell for later (July 13, 1917 to be exact) but right away she let us know that heaven and purgatory are distinct realities – regardless of what the 20th century modernists may say.

When asked where she was from, Mary pointed to the sky and said, simply, “I am from heaven.”

Well, that’s good enough for me. Yes! There is a heaven – Our Lady said so!

A minute or two later, Lucia asked Our Lady about the soul of a woman who had recently died. Mary Most Holy replied, “She will be in purgatory until the end of the world.”

A little less comforting perhaps, but still a confirmation that purgatory does indeed exist – and there are souls in there!

So my friend, what is your favorite part of this apparition?

It happened 99 years ago today.
