TWO RECIPES FOR SUCCESS

Dear Mr. Said,

Today is the first Friday of the month and tomorrow is first Saturday!

I know I like a “sure thing” – you know, like a recipe that I know will turn out well or following a map or GPS that I know will get me where I want to go.

Do you feel the same way?

I mean, who has the time to experiment when you know that a sure thing will get you results, right?

And, I don’t know about you, but one thing I do NOT want to experiment with is my eternal salvation.

Is there a way to be assured of the help of the Church, and the reception of the Last Rites at that supreme moment?

Well, at Fatima, with amazing maternal solicitude, Our Lady gave us such an assurance by revealing the Five First Saturdays Devotion!

Appearing to Sister Lucia, on December 10, 1925, Our Lady promised that she would assist at the hour of death, with all the graces necessary for salvation, all those that would practice this simple devotion.

Now, for Fridays, we have a much older devotion and no less effective.

Our Merciful Lord offers you and I another option – the Nine First Fridays devotion.

In His own words:

"In the excess of the mercy of My Heart, I promise you that My all powerful love will grant to all those who will receive Communion* on the First Fridays, for nine consecutive months, the grace of final repentance: they will not die in my displeasure, nor will they die without receiving the sacraments; and My Heart will be their secure refuge in that last hour."

The Hearts of Jesus and Mary love you Anthony, so much more than you could ever imagine; never doubt that!

I just wanted to tell you that today; I don’t think any of us could hear it often enough –“You are loved!”

These two most pure Hearts — Mother and Son — unite in Their loving call to you and to me, saying, essentially, “Come spend some time with Us now, so that we can all be together in eternity.”

Now, a few practical suggestions:

Prayerfully decide which day works better for your schedule. This will include researching the Mass times available in your parish.
Then take your calendar (or phone!) and write in pen on the nine first Fridays or five first Saturdays the time and place you will go to receive Holy Communion. Also mark a day either 8 days before or after in which you will go to confession.
Then call a friend and ask him or her to join you; we have a greater chance of success if we do this with a friend!

You see, dear friend, your salvation is just as important to me as mine is.
