Nick wanted to share a little bit about himself:

From Newcastle in the UK. I grew up in a house that was full of music, and my first exposure to the whistle was at a ceilidh. Wind instruments have always appealed to me. I like folk and traditional music from around the world, I lived in China for a long time, I really like Chinese folk music.

As a nearly blind person, the fact that the whistle is something usually taught and learned to play by ear is a relief and a big plus for me. My interest in whistles was rekindled by a friend when he tried to teach me 'Alloa House'  (a Scottish/Northumbrian tune), he would play on the accordion and I was learning the Ocarina at the time. I ended up getting out the whistle I had bought as a kid. I have been totally gripped by whistle ever since then.

I was attracted to the Carbony because it is s modern, tough material, this was going to be the whistle I carried around in my bag, that I could rinse under the tap and not worry about it. It is so much more than that. The Carbony is my favourite whistle by far, I really love it, I feel like I have only scratched the surface of what it can do. The tone is really warm and rich sounding, but also very clean. It feels like it could be pushed a lot further than I have managed, that it wants to sing.

My favourite tunes change with my mood, but I enjoy 'Banish Misfortune', 'Inisheer', and I've just started learning 'Sheahans fancy'. I hope to be a passable player at some point. Once lockdown is over, I am looking forward to playing with my friend and getting out to some sessions to listen. I will have my Carbony with me though 😁

Entries are now open for week twelve.  Just make a video playing a Carbony instrument and either email it to me or directly post it on our Facebook page www.facebook.com/CarbonyCelticWinds you will be entered into a contest, the video with the most likes each week will win you a $100 voucher.

Pro tip: ask all your friends to like the video.

Also, we have a new device to increase the power and volume of our whistles when needed, perfect for sessions! Check out this short video https://youtu.be/c-6GwPmtdxI

And a reminder on how Carbony Celtic Winds is operating during this unique time:

We are open for business, but to minimize exposure we are no longer giving factory tours or in-person instrument demonstrations.

We have suspended traveling to festivals, games, and shows until further notice.

We are continuing to make and sell instruments through our website, amazon, our distributors and retailers.

I know many of you were hoping to see me this spring and summer. It is always nice to be able to try instruments before buying and the Carbony booth was the ideal place for making your decision. In light of this; we will be offering free shipping worldwide (promo code: FSHP) on all orders and initiating the 30-day return policy on the date the instrument arrives at your door instead of the purchase date.  This provides you a no-risk opportunity to try the instrument as if you were at my booth at your local festival.

We also now have DHL courier delivery for international orders and ask about having the duty prepaid to get the instrument to you with no delay.
