If we had to identify one main sign of climate change, it would be rising sea levels. Each additional inch of ocean reflects the extra heat trapped by greenhouse gases, which causes water to expand and ice to melt. About 90 percent of the excess heat from global warming ends up in the oceans, making sea level rise our best indicator of the planet’s health. It clearly demonstrates the imbalance caused by human actions.
