Hi Kevin:

Thanks for doing that I need to do some stuff now and get these messages to route to their own mailbox. This was buried in an old work related box with a few hundred other things.

So it was a help already you did this. I also have skipped revision history the last couple of updates. I will try to get a little more strict again. We are still at a stage where it doesn't totally matter yet.

I did upload the G model again last nite. It has another Mustang II spindle model that I found on SketchUp. It's a little different. I need to figure out what it is, where to get it and price etc. Most importantly measurements and then get them posted into the LocostUSA spindle measurements thread. The two models I have are both 2" drop spindles.

Cheers,
Marcus

Cool... I really like the revisions to the G model. I noticed kind of
a backbone structure underneath the nose of the R160 diff... If this
was made of say a 2'x6' rectangular tube, laid on the broad side, it
could double as mounting for the nose of the diff, drive shaft hoops
and possibly lend a bit more strength to the length of the model. You
could also completely triangulate the area under the driver's
buttocks... lol On it's side, It would also attach easier to the round
tube under the diff... As a quick glance it almost looks like a 1x3(?)
laying on the narrow side. I know its quite a bit heavier, but perhaps
pro's could out way con's?

Sorry I haven't contributed anything technical to the project, I've
been working on removing a family of raccoons who've taken up
residence in my "engine room"...

Regarding the drop spindles... Can any hub and brake set up be
installed or are they vehicle specific? I've never spent a whole lot
of time researching spindles..

Hi Kevin. I am really sorry it took so long to respond to this. I will
write even more rules for my gmail account so it is more obvious when
things come in and also check more often. I owe you another upload and
may get things clean enough today.

I am working on proper support for the diff nose, transmission and
driveshaft hoops. It is getting better and I may be happy soon. I do
not have so much concern for the Subaru running gear, but the V8 folks
with Ford diffs need very strong location for the diff.

2x6 rectangualr tube is heavier then I want to go. I think the 1x2 in
a "tall" orientation will provide a lot of vertical stiffness. I will
run the model in Grape FEA for this at some point as a last check.

I have removed the long diagonal tube under the driver and am
replacing it with a pair of tubes that make an "X" under the passenger
compartment.

At the moment I am not married to any hub / spindle combos etc. In
front the model has Mustang II 2" drop spindles and also Miata. The
MII setup is on the passenger side and the Miata is on the driver's
side, so you can compare. The are several versions of the MII spindle
available in different catalogs, they vary a bit.

For track use, I would like to be able to fit 13" wheels and that
question is not completely answered yet. No problems with 14" and up.

There will be plenty of chances to make contributions and thanks for
thinking of that!

Regards, Marcus
