Have a project where we would like to hook up a video camera and tie
it to Camtasia. Haven't had much luck doing it. Does anyone know any
tricks for getting this to work?

Also, we did use our webcam and the quality wasn't great. The PIP
video is in sync with the audio while in Camtasia but no matter what
format we produce the file as the PIP video/audio become out of sync.
Any ideas?

>From what I understand, TechSmith suggests that you add the video
later as a Picture in Picture (PIP) if you're going to use a standard
DV camera. I think the problem is that recording a screen and trying
to record a DV camera at the same time is pretty heavy duty for most
computers. But, the good news is, if you start and stop the camera
and the presentation at the same time, you shouldn't have a problem
aligning them later in Camtasia.

As for Web cam problems with syncing the audio and video... that
happens a lot. The problem is you're working with compressed video
from the web cam and when you placed it in Camtasia there's latency
and compression issues that can be introduced. So, I'm not sure what
to suggest there. Have you check the TechSmith forums?

Does your video need to be live and real-time (ala PIP) or...

Can you record your camera work and put it in during post? This is the
way I usually work with camera video...

I also sometimes do my final edits in Sony Vegas before pulling
everything into Camtasia Studio to Produce.
