Duties: Operate in general support of the archives and historical
collections as a major function of the museum?s mission. Preserve and
maintain historical documents, images and publications. Assist in
extensive scholarly, applied or technical research relating to the
museum collections. Serve as museum archivist to assist the curatorial
staff. Complete major tasks and initiates projects such as inventories
and inspections. Assist in the documentation, selection, preparation and
exhibit of historical materials. Maintain archival and collection areas
to include monitoring of environmental conditions. Prepare reports on
disposition and condition of archival and historical collections.
Perform duties relating to museum physical security, fire protection,
key control and safety programs. Support museum staff on events,
conferences and special events.

* The best qualified candidates for this position must show in
their resume that they meet the minimum qualifications and have
experience in the following areas: knowledge and ability to maintain
historical archives and collections, complete projects, inventories, and
inspections. Experience in historical exhibit preparation, fire
protection, key control, safety, and physical security of museums.
* GS-06 and above: One year of experience directly related to this
occupation equivalent to the next lower grade. Graduate education or an
internship meets the experience required when it is directly related to
the work of the position.
