up at the Kennedy Center - what a fun way to spend an evening!!!!!
Millennium Stage through the end of February
Feb. 18 - 25, the Kennedy Center Conservatory Project introduces
Washington audiences to young performers from conservatories,
colleges, and universities around the nation who show extraordinary
talent. Plus, at the end of the month, experience the Afro-Colombian
dance rhythms of vocalist Petrona Martínez Feb. 26, and be sure to
support young local musicians with the NSO on Feb. 28th!

18 Mon. University of Michigan School of Music, Theater, and Dance
Students perform works by Bach, Boulez, Mary Lou Williams, and by Pius
Cheung.

The N-E-W Trio performs classical pieces by Ravel and Mendelssohn.
20 Wed: Cleveland Institute of Music
Classical works by Debussy, Caplet, Salzedo, Persichetti, and
Rachmaninoff.
21 Thu: New England Conservatory of Music
The Moet Trio performs classical works by Poulenc, Beethoven, and
Ravel.
22 Fri: Peabody Conservatory of Music at Johns Hopkins University
Classical works by Dvorák, Liszt, Herbie Hancock, and Fred Spielman
and Kermit Goell.
23 Sat: San Francisco Conservatory of Music
Classical works by Bach, Liszt, Scriabin, Lalo, and more.
24 Sun: Curtis Institute of Music
Students perform classical works by Beethoven, Schumann, Poulenc, and
Messiaen.

25 Mon: Oberlin Conservatory of Music
Classical works by Chopin, Mozart, Muczynski, Smetana, and Richard
Strauss.
26 Tue: Petrona Martínez
Colombian vocalist is heiress to bullerengue, an Afro-Colombian dance
rhythm. Presented in cooperation with the Embassy of Colombia.
27 Wed: Season of Ascencion
Ensemble led by clarinetist Geoffrey Flolo performs works by Mozart,
Robert Schumann, and Max Bruch.**
28 Thu: National Symphony Orchestra Youth Fellows
High-school musicians studying with NSO members perform classical
works.
29 Fri: Black Sombrero Brass
Led by trumpeter Dan Haverstock, the band recreates the sound of
Tijuana Brass.**

then ride the free red shuttle at the top of the escalators,
departing every 15 minutes to and from the Kennedy Center until
midnight.
