Good morning,

You’ve reported that despite the 300% increase in 211 phone and web requests from 2019 to 2025, funding for this vital service has been flat for 15 years – resulting in long wait times.

In fact, during the SNAP crisis, 211 responded to a 10X increase in the number of food requests in the first week of November 2025 compared to November 2024. But during this crisis, wait times could be as long as 4 hours!

As federal cuts continue to squeeze Connecticut families, thanks to Governor Lamont and the General Assembly, help is on the way!

Please join us at 55 Capital Blvd tomorrow morning at 11:30 a.m. when the Governor hosts a press conference to announce critical funding for 211.

Hear from:

  • Leaders at United Way of Connecticut
  • A 211 Contact Center Specialist
  • Rhonda Evans, Executive Director of the CT Association for Community Action
  • Commissioner Andrea Barton Reeves, Department of Social Services
  • Sarah Fox, Executive Director of the CT Coalition to End Homelessness
  • Governor Ned Lamont

Join us after the press conference at noon, when you can follow the Governor as he tours the 211 Contact Center for a meet and greet with contact center staff.

The Governor’s media advisory is attached for your convenience.

Please reach out to me with any questions.

We look forward to seeing you tomorrow!
