MEDIA ADVISORY
Jan. 15th Press Conference: Drop the Charges
Dare to Struggle is holding a press conference to demand that all charges be dropped on three of our activists targeted and arrested on August 5th by New Britain Police (NBPD).
WHAT: Press conference outside of the New Britain Superior Court. Speakers will detail the blatant attempts at political repression and retaliation enacted by the NBPD and what we can do to stand against it.
WHEN: Thursday, January 15th, 9:30 AM EST
WHERE: New Britain Superior Court, 20 Franklin Court, New Britain, CT, 06051
WHO: The three activists who were arrested will speak about the political repression they are facing.
WHY: The New Britain Police Department is trying to silence activists from speaking out against police brutality and the mistreatment of homeless people. These activists were targeted days after a protest, staked out by cops, and even ripped from their homes. The police are attempting to repress free speech and protests against injustice through arrests and harassment. Despite releasing some body cam footage, NBPD is still dragging its feet to release all body cam footage along with other items that were requested in our Motion for Discovery. They want us to feel threatened and intimidated. Instead, we are choosing to expose and fight these charges because police should not get away with repressing activists and masses of people who speak out. We need everyone’s support as we stand against this tyranny.

January 2026 Update: Our lawyer discovered that NBPD lied about a witness statement in the warrant used to arrest 3 of our activists. In bodycam footage obtained by our lawyer, the witness said he heard inflammatory language coming from our protest, but explicitly stated that it was someone else, not the arrested activist. Despite this, Detective Tran lied in the warrant by falsely matching this quote to one of the arrested activists.
Previous Coverage of this Court Case with More Information (Click to Navigate to Article):
Dare to Struggle is a multinational organization open to anyone who wants to resist and stop injustice no matter who holds political office. We don’t lobby politicians. We don’t use insular activist lingo. We don’t chase social media fame. We don’t seek careers or corporate sponsorship through activism. We’re committed to standing with the people subjected to the horrors of the American nightmare. We go to the neighborhoods facing police brutality, ICE raids, poverty, and evictions, talk to people about the problems they face, and organize people in collective struggle. We know that radical change only happens when people step outside of routine protest or expecting politicians to do it for us and take bold, collective action.
