Dear Software Professional,
The Cape IT Initiative, in association with CT-SPIN, would like to
invite members of the Cape technical community (programmers,
developers, analysts, architects, IT managers, CIOs, software
engineers, tech-thusiasts and educators) to a technical discussion on
the future of the Java platform, which will be held in Stellenbosch on
Tuesday 7 December 2010 from 18h00 onwards, and will be followed by a
wine tasting year-end celebration.
TOPIC: Java Platform: What's brewing?
Fifteen years since its humble beginnings as a programming tool for
small interactive devices, Java has evolved into a high-performance
and general-purpose virtual machine, language and library-set used in
applications ranging from the desktop to the cloud. So, how will Java
progress under the stewardship of Oracle? This technical session
focuses on the next steps in Java's evolutionary path by looking at
some key aspects of Java 7, 8 and beyond.
SPEAKER: Alan Nöthnagel
Alan spent 10 years at Sun Microsystems providing architectural and
strategic Java Platform consulting as Solutions Architect, and
managing the support of the Sun Java Enterprise System for Middle East
and Africa. He joined Oracle in June 2010 as a Software Architect for
Oracle's Communications, Media, Utilities & Transportation division.
