I've been out of web development for quite some time, now, so am
wondering - what are the taglibs and jslibs y'all would recommend for
a straight servlet/jsp project?

Please don't tell me about the latest/greatest framework, unless their
tags (specifically tags for forms/fields/error-msgs) can be used as a
standalone library - there's too much codebase to retrofit some new
frameworky stuff. Bonus points for taglibs that will do some of the JS
stuff for me, or at least play well with various JS libs.

Hi Mike,

Not a taglib, but something that might be useful for Gui-type work is Bootstrap:

Reply with more details if you want - maybe someone can help you.  I don't personally use any freestanding taglib libraries.
(I use Struts 2 but that's a framework)

Kind regards,
