I wanted to let everyone know that this Wednesday's effort to assemble our Bridgeport Milling machine went very well.  By the end of the night, we had the machine completely assembled and even powered it up (temporarily) and turned on the spindle! Remaining actions needed to have a very usable machine include:

Tramming the Head
Acquire and Mount a vise (I think I have one)
Finalize location and take off of dolly
Hook up a proper electrical connection
Acquire some felt for the bed way wipers and install wipers.
Not necessary but nice to have will be a collet rack.

A big thanks to everyone that chipped in on getting this machine up and going. This is a great addition to our shop and I am sure it will get plenty of use!

Jeff.

Its to keep the brideport running in the rain :) No seriously -

Wipers mount on the moving platform to "wipe" debris off the track
before the platform moves over the track. Metal filings can cause wear
and friction if not kept clean. With a machine like a bridgeport with
such tight tolerances, keeping the tracks clean and guarding the track
/ platform opening is important for use and longevity of the machine.
