At the March Board meeting of CT Hackerspace, the board treasurer report along with the membership treasurer announce a frightening statistic. Recent trends have shown that only 40% of our members are current on their dues. As a "break-even" organization, this eats quickly into assets and will soon cause emergency actions to be taken.
If you are behind in dues, please take the time to correct the oversight. If you are not sure your current status, contact Jason Wells, our treasurer, or Chuck Schall, who oversees membership. We are also aware that the recent Paypal problem (now fixed) could have also added to this problem.
If all current members paid, and paid on time, CT Hackerspace would be solvent as our current membership income is slightly over our "break-even" numbers. I hope to see this fixed quickly, and easily and get back on course focusing on improving our space and planning more events. The board recommends that choosing a steady payment system would help also alleviate this problem. The are many choices, including "recurring payment" via paypal, monthly payment options via your bank, or of course, paying ahead.
For those who pay on time monthly (or pre-pay ahead) we thank you very much and appreciate your responsible proactive efforts. It is hard to run our organization (or furthermore grow it) when we constantly need to stop and and take immediate responsive action to unplanned deficits.
Thank you for your time and attention to helping us fix this correctable obstacle.
Best Regards,
Bill Saturno
