Hi,
For those who are itching for some orienteering during the summer heat, I have set two park-O style courses at Nahanton Park in Newton which will have streamers up for two weeks (from today through Sat July 25). The woods are surprisingly open and runnable, but I noticed when hanging the streamers that the trail to the first control on the easy course has a stretch where it is overgrown with weeds and some stinging nettles. An adult can get through it without too much problem, but it may be a challenge for a smaller child. Control sites are marked with either white streamers or white surveyors flags (mainly the ones close to the community gardens).
Sprint 1 – 2.0 km, 16 controls
Sprint 2 – 2.1 km, 21 controls
Intermediary – 1.6 km, 13 controls
Easy – 1.1 km, 10 controls
Best,
Pia
