Dear member,

 

Are you a civil society representative with expertise in environmental issues, waste, transition to a zero waste society, sustainability or social inclusion?

 

In January of this year, the EC has launched an initiative called VOICES. It is the first of its kind to solicit the engagement of 1000 citizens Europe-wide to assist the EC in defining its research and innovation policy agenda, in relation to urban waste and the transition to a zero waste society. The initiative is being implemented by the ECSITE network of European science museums, who have organised 99 participatory focus groups with EU citizens, in 27 member states. The ideas gathered from these citizen consultation will be provided to the EC in early June. http://www.ecsite.eu/activities_and_resources/projects/voices

 

As a follow up phase, the EC will set up a Consolidation Group to prioritise and transform the citizen-inspired ideas into potential research and innovation topics. The group is expected to meet in Brussels from 12 to 13 June 2013 (exact timing to be confirmed).

 

If you do have expertise in the relevant fields and this opportunity is of interest to you, please send your expert registration number and CV to Karen Fabbri karen....@ec.europa.eu (+32 229-95185), Policy/Science Programme Officer at DG RTD, by Thursday 30^th May 2013.

 

If you reply positively, the EC will propose your name to be placed on the consolidation group list for to the Director General of DG RTD. Should your name be ultimately selected for the shortlist of group members, an agenda, working group mandate and an official invitation will follow. Please note that the working language for this group will be in English only, seeing there are no possibilities for interpretation. The travel and accommodation costs of participants will be reimbursed by the EC.

 

To obtain an expert registration number you need to register in the European Commission’s "expert database", which is on the Participant Portal at https://ec.europa.eu/research/participants/portal/page/myprofile

Registration is required prior to the establishment of any expert contract.
