Hi everyone,
I just found out about a great opportunity for us to get the word out
about the bike patrol. Here's the email:

You might have heard already, but Peak Region Cyclist is hosting an
event in February for bike shops in the region to show their new bikes
or to roll out their old models and to meet new customers. Bike
riders in the region get to see what other shops have to offer without
having to travel to Salida or Pueblo. Plus, we're going to have a
vintage bike show section. At the end of the evening we trying to get
it together with Kimball's theater to show "American Flyers" on the
big screen. It's going to be a cool event.

We were offered a MTB Patrol table free of charge! So pending any
conflicts with the date, I'm planning on going there with some flyers
and info for potential members. I think setting up a laptop with the
IMBA Patrol web page and the Medicine Wheel site would be good as
well. We could bring a pack with some stuff in it, maybe a bike with
the patrol plate on it, and things like that, just to catch more
attention.

Jim, does Medicine Wheel have anything planned for this yet? Maybe we
could set up a combined table of Med Wheel and the Bike Patrol.

If you have any additional ideas and/or would like to participate,
just let me know!

Excellent!

I was just sent a similar info email/invite via the Pikes Peak Area Bike
Coalition that I'm involved with, so I do believe that between MedWheel, the
Patrol, PPABC and the Colorado Springs Cycling Club we could combine forces
to have a nice non-profit/advocacy area.

I have a contact at a sign shop that we had a banner created for CSCC a
couple of years ago and I still need to get two smaller ones made. I was
wanting to talk to Dave V (CSCC), Al Brody (PPABC) & Jim (MedWheel) to see
about having a banner created for each group for use in public events and
such. We use our larger banner for CSCC at least 4-5 times a year and it has
proved to be a great investment. IMBA has a banner available for the Bike
Patrol that we could source through their Patrol site.

Come out to the Festival of Lights Parade tomorrow. We've been working our
tail off on the CSCC float entry and it's going to be quite fun. Picture a
Niner 29" dual suspension bike, a Trek 69er single speed and a
larger-than-life Big Wheel (complete w/Surly Endomorph front wheel) being
pulled by a nut on a unicycle, powered by 2000 watts of Honda generator and
lit to the hilt, complete with a Christmas tree the bikes are "under"...

We have waaaay too much time and creative energy on our hands!

Cheers,

Allen

Medicine Wheel has been offered a booth at this as well and, unless you guys want your own booth, it seems to make sense to combine them.  It's fine w/ me either way.  i was definitely planning on having a MW presence there.

I had a talk with Jon yesterday and the show prep is going well. I'm hoping we can pull off an "Interbike-like" advocacy/non-profit section and I believe the impact will be very positive for the local community to see that we actually do have several groups in town working for better access, conditions and community.

Cheers,

Allen

Jim, that sounds great! I know Allen mentioned teaming up at the table to have a big advocacy area, so let's plan on that.
Thanks!
