Good day to all,
I’d like to host a little get together for the CS Patrol group at my home this coming Sunday, November 23rd. Sorry for the short notice, have been quite busy but realized that I was running out of time before the Holidays are upon us.
I am leading the Colorado Springs Cycling Club’s annual Tour de Turkey Social Ride @1pm and would also like to invite you to attend that if you’d like. It’s an easy social ride, usually ~15 miles in length, starting from Acacia Park downtown. The ride leaves @1pm and normally goes till 3-3:30pm or so. This ride, being the Sunday Social before Thanksgiving gets the Tour de Turkey treatment and we’ll have hot cider, fresh cookies and such afterwards at the park when we get back. Depending on the weather, we usually attract a group of 15-30 folks for this ride, all depends on how cold/snowy it is.
Depending on how folks would like to do it, you could park at my house, arriving ~noon’ish or so and we can ride down to Acacia Park. It’s just under 7 miles and all downhill. I need to get down there a little early to coordinate the event. After the ride, we could ride back (uphill) back to my house. That would get us there about 4:30-4:45’ish or so, as it was getting dark.
I’d like to also go for a little late afternoon/evening mtn bike ride in Ute Valley Park, sampling the sweet new trails that SRAM/Medicine Wheel have built in the last couple of months. It would be a “lights required” ride as we wouldn’t start until it was already getting dark at best but Ute is very easy to negotiate in the dark.
If all that riding/Tour de Turkey activity doesn’t sound appealing, you could also just meet at my house ~4:30pm and plan on the mtn bike ride.
Post ~1 hour ride in Ute, we’d come back to my place, fire up the bar-b-que and have a little dinner.
The riding will all be casually paced and no-drop. The Tour de Turkey could be done on a mtn bike if you’d like. The ride itself wouldn’t be difficult but the ride back to my house would be a bit of a workout. I usually take the Sinton Trail back to my neck of the woods so it’s a relatively easy slog up.
Hope I haven’t turned anyone off with an entire *page* long invite! For the bar-b-que, we’ll provide the meat and veggie option. Feel free to bring a side dish and something to drink if you have a favorite. We’ll have beer/wine available as well. Nothing to bring for the Tour de Turkey if you’d like to ride along.
Please RSVP if you’ll be able to attend and what events you think that you’d like to participate in so I get an idea of who to expect prior to leaving my house for the Tour de Turkey. If there are no takers for the ride down to the park from my house, I can also drive in order to shorten the commute back and get us out into Ute Valley earlier!
Map link to Acacia Park:
***It’s the “B” pointer on the map, we meet on the North side of the park on Platte, just East of Tejon St
Map link to my home, 5370 Sevenoaks Drive:
***8 houses down from the backside fireroad trail access to Ute Valley (short commute but *steep* hill!)

I'll probably drive down so that I can return quickly after the ride downtown. I forgot that I need to schlep all the stuff down to the park for the Tour de Turkey festivities anyways.
See you both Sunday,
Allen

Count Christy and I in for the MTB ride and BBQ! I'll be at the pool with an athlete earlier in the afternoon, so won't be able to do the road ride before.
Thanks!
Ryan

Bring a side dish to share and a beverage of your choice. We'll probably
have 10-12 people for dinner. Trying to keep it to a smaller gathering. Last
time we had a quick get together, I think we sat 24 for dinner. I'm trying
to go easy on my lovely wife CeCe :-)
Expect a nice casual ride, followed by a similar dinner. Looking for an
opportunity to get the Bike Patrol together to toast Ryan getting it
together and for a shared sense of helping the community.
Ride on,
Allen
