Hello,

I’ll be attending CTRLshift in Stoke on Trent on 8-10 May 2019 and will be running a session on CSAs and leading a discussion on how we can grow and diversify the CSA movement in the UK. I’ll be asking questions both about how we can help existing CSAs to reach new members, especially lower income individuals, and how we can encourage diverse communities to start their own CSA. If you have any experience with this in your own CSA or thoughts on the topic you’d like to share or that I could use as examples please get in touch.

There are also still tickets available for the event if you’d like to attend, details are in the email below. If anyone in the network is planning to be there please let me know, I’d love to have your contributions to the session on CSAs.

CTRLshift seeks to catalyse a network of change-making organisations, networks, and independent practitioners, creating a movement for positive social, economic and environmental change. We are developing a shared agenda to shift power over our democracy, economy and environment to people and communities across Britain.

Best,
Page

Community Land Trusts bring back a semblance of agency and control

Tom Chance, Director of CTRLshift Partners the National Community Land Trust Network, has written a great guest post:

“From Liverpool to Toller Porcorum, Bishops Castle to Mile End, people are using Community Land Trusts (CLTs) to bring a semblance of control and agency back.”

“The heart of the CLT concept is putting land into democratic community ownership, with a legal lock to ensure it is used for that community’s wellbeing.”

“The CTRLshift summit is spot on. Let’s get the whole system in the room and see how we can be more powerful together.”

Enablement: how governments can achieve more by letting go

Another great guest post, this time from our Partners at the Centre for Public Improvement all about how “The enabling mindset…challenges us to raise our expectations about what can be achieved through collaboration and cooperation.”
