Kelly & Frank set out from White House, PA today, Saturday on a 29-mile loop up through Smithfield, Leckrone and Masontown that Frank had last ridden in 2020. At the outset, they knew it would be hilly with a little more than 2,100-feet of climbing. The weather was perfect and the roads were decent with hardly any motor traffic but some of the 14 remarkable hills were pretty steep. On the return half of the loop, Kelly’s chain broke. Frank had a spare quick link but they couldn’t get it installed so Frank rode his e-assist Creo in Turbo mode back to the start where he phoned Kelly and said, “I’ll be right there!” Frank asked Siri to guide him back by a quicker route but she sent him on a route that took much longer. When Frank and Kelly finally were heading back to White House with their bikes in Frank’s van, Frank told Kelly, “you’re lucky you broke your chain because the hills between here and the start are real stinkers” (as Bill Foster used to say:)
