One of the best ways to promote your blog is by "pinging it," this is telling all the blog promotion sites that you have written something new and to add it to their searches...
Pingoat.com is my favorite, because you could set a link to automatically ping 100's of sites, if not more, but it has been down since July 1st. I'm just hoping that the come back better than ever!
Meantime you might want to try these alternative sites for your pinging traffic.
