CPS supports calls for Release of Abdullah Ocalan
Wednesday 26 July 2023: The Communist Party of Swaziland (CPS) supports the worldwide call for the unconditional release of political prisoner, Comrade Abdullah Ocalan who continues to endure inhumane conditions in Turkish prison since his arrest in 1999.
Intent on breaking his fighting spirit, his call for justice, Turkish authorities have continued to impose extreme limitations to visiting rights from his lawyers and family. For years, the authorities have cut Comrade Ocalan out of access to the outside world. In their gross abuse of Comrade Ocalan’s rights, including subjecting him to solitary confinement, the Turkish government has violated international law on prison rights. It has done so without any consideration as to his health and life.
The Communist Party of Swaziland calls upon the justice and peace-loving people of the world to support the ongoing call for the unconditional release of Comrade Abdullah Ocalan, in addition to the respect for his rights as a political prisoner. The CPS further calls upon the people of Swaziland to, as they wage their own struggles for democracy, stand in solidarity with Comrade Ocalan and other people fighting against imperialist aggression across the world.
