CPS Summer School 2023: Building a New Cadre for insurrectionary Seizure of Power to Achieve Democracy Now
Monday 18 December 2023: The Communist Party of Swaziland (CPS) convenes the 2023 Summer School under the theme: Building a New Cadre for the Insurrectionary Seizure of Power to Achieve Democracy Now.
The CPS Summer School historically is the pillar in building the capacity of the democratic movement in the country and the shaping of the political situation in the country towards a genuine democratic dispensation. The school will take place in Mpumalanga, Republic of South Africa on 18 – 28 December 2023.
The struggle for democracy in Swaziland has entered a critical phase where the contending forces are known, the parameters are known and the test of strength from each side is continuous. The democratic movement needs to win over the confidence of the determined masses of Swaziland who have already demonstrated hatred of the regime in practice and they have suffered ruthless reprisal from the enemy which is the Mswati autocracy and his tinkhundla dictatorship. The confidence is that: the struggle will win and our country will survive.
The CPS Summer School will be attended by delegates from Swaziland and in exile, international delegates from other countries and fraternal organisations from Swaziland to share experiences and enrich theoretical understanding of the dynamics of the situation of struggle. The 2021 uprising remains a turning point in the history of our struggle, the regime can no longer run the dictatorship in the old way, it cannot survive without increasing repressive tactics. The military state has incorporated external forces to back the oppression to continue the exploitation of the labour of the people and the plunder of the resources and wealth of our country by the monarchy and international capitalists.
The people’s offensive must be organised better, weaknesses must be overcome, unity must be forged even within the complexities of the situation. The new cadre programme must first and foremost help in improving the capacity of CPS cadres to understand the ever-changing situations, develop understanding of tactics and muster the operational plan in the hostile environment which the Southern African Development Community (SADC) elections observer mission has facilitated. The endorsement of an illegitimate system has betrayed the peaceful commitment of the people. The SADC mission has chosen the side of the oppressor against the people and has legitimized the occupation of our country by rogue forces secured by mercenary forces.
The School will detail the capacity of CPS cadres to survive under these new conditions and build a strong connection with the people and improve cooperation with the progressive forces in our country as well as improve international networking with progressive people of the world and more importantly the left forces by mobilising and participating effectively within the International Meeting of Communist and Workers Parties for solidarity and cooperation.
The victory of our struggle is embedded in the maximum cooperation of the oppressed people of Swaziland, the solidarity from the working class and progressive people of the world in the quest for social justice and peace.
A condition for the revolutionary overthrow of the regime must be created to end the rule of the absolute monarchy by organising the masses of our people to formations which can resist the oppression and organise the democratic society as a matter of agency by breaking down the entire repressive machinery, institutions and economic base.
The School will be enriched by practical experiences shared by CPS activists who have endured the conditions of the counter revolution offensive levelled by the regime since 2021 which will help determine the outlook of the new cadre programme to fulfil the democracy mission of our struggle.
The CPS Summer School will receive messages of support from organisations across the world.
