Liciniso Weekly: 26 April – 3 May 2026

This edition of Liciniso Weekly examines key political, economic, and cultural issues in Swaziland.
It critiques the monarchy’s international stance on maintaining relations with Taiwan, arguing that it contradicts international consensus and risks isolating the country politically and economically, highlights the worsening conditions of workers, stressing that rising costs of living, unemployment, privatisation, and suppression of unions are identified as key challenges, and explores how culture is shaped and used as a tool of power, arguing that culture is not neutral but shaped by power and has been used historically by both colonial forces and the monarchy to maintain control.
The publication calls for unity among workers, intensified struggle against inequality, and the development of a revolutionary culture that reflects the true interests of the people.
