Family and Consumer Sciences teacher at Miami Yoder Middle/High School. Miami Yoder is a state of the art school in Rush, CO, located approximately 30 miles east of Colorado Springs. Most teachers live in Colorado Springs and commute to work. The school was built approximately 2 years ago, and is equipped with new textbooks and technology. The school has adequate funding to run a very successful Family and Consumer Sciences program. The current classes taught in FACS are Catering, Career Exploration, Life Management, and Nutrition and Wellness consisting of 2 middle school classes, and 4 high school classes. However, there is flexibility to teach a different variety of classes if the teacher so chooses. The Family and Consumer Sciences program at Miami Yoder is only a couple years old, so there is a lot of flexibility to cater the program to the teacher's style and needs. The classroom is equipped with three fully functioning kitchens and complete with supplies needed to run the current FACS courses. Family and Consumer Sciences' student organization, FCCLA, has been started and been very successful. They put on fundraisers and events around the school and community, as well as travel to the State Competition every year where they have made it to Nationals both years. Miami Yoder has very strong CTE programs, and is looking for someone who will continue to grow the Family and Consumer Sciences department! |
