For this weekend (Sunday, Aug 7) we have two options:

8:15am

55 miles on Rte 34B, to 34, to Black Rd. and then to Salmon Creek- 12mph maintained pace

Meet at the Post Office substation on Rt. 34B in the little strip mall just past East Shore Circle.

(I think they mean here 42.528575,-76.500109)

Robert:

The only nearby Black Rd I'm finding on Google is in Mecklenburg, and 20 miles from the start, so perhaps that is it?  We could just show up and follow them...

9:00am

Rides will begin at the Warren Road Post Office in Ithaca.  (42.489932,-76.467)

Please bring water bottles, spare tubes, a pump

and sunscreen.  If you plan to ride, drop Russ an

email.

Hi Anja

I'm interested in the first one. I'd like to do the second one too, but unfortunately I'll be traveling (back to Ithaca) on that day..

I can't tell by the description what exactly is the route of this ride. It looks like its starting in Lansing, but not sure where it goes from there...

Hard to say;

One of 'em starts earlier (boo) but will be out at a cooler time of day (yay), we have sketchy info about the route (boo), but that's more info than we have from the later one (yay).  etc.

I like the idea of riding 55 miles, and thus making Sunday a "hard" day.  (I'll commute to/from work tomorrow on the heavy bike - 30 mi round trip and Saturday take an easier ride in the morning with the Geneva bike shop.)

What do you think?

I'd like to try for this 8:15 one, I think:

8:15am

55 miles on Rte 34B, to 34, to Black Rd. and then to Salmon Creek- 12mph maintained pace

Meet at the Post Office substation on Rt. 34B in the little strip mall just past East Shore Circle.

Hi Anja

I haven't really been on many longer rides this summer, so the 12 MPH pace sounds like it would be a better fit... What do you think? I'd be up for either one...

Robert K joined me on the ride today, and completed his first half-century!

Here's a link to the map and a picture:

I made a FB page for the AIDS Ride, if you want to join it:

Keep pedaling!

I will next send an email about fund raising...
