Hi CK,

I am trying CK-ERP 0.31.1 with Joomla 2.5.7, and found Traditional Chinese is working well but can't show Simplified Chinese, please advise.

Hi, Dave,

Thank you for your interest in CK-ERP, and sorry for the belated reply.
My mother was hospitalised for the last fortnight.

I am afraid I don't have sufficient info to tell where the problem is.
However, to start the ball rolling, I would suggest you go thru the
following steps,

1. Visit http://ck-erp.org/jos/. Login as User=purcmngr, Password=purcmngr
2. Click the "CK-ERP DEMO ............" at the header menu
3. You should now be at the "Welcome to General Ledger" page. (The page
is in English)
4. Click on the drop down list next to the British flag. Choose
Traditional Chinese. Then click update.
5. You should now be at the "歡迎光臨總帳" page. (The page is in
Traditional Chinese)
6. Click on the drop down list next to the Hong Kong SAR flag. Choose 簡
體中文. Then click 更新 .
7. You should now be at the "欢迎光临总帐" page. (The page is in
Simplified Chinese)

If you go thru the above process with no obvious error, please repeat
the same process at your own Joomla + CK-ERP site that you have problem
with (changing ck-erp.org/jos/ appropriately to fit your site's setup).

If you encounter problems with the language change, please reply with
description on what happened on screen when you go thru the above step 1
to 7, at your own site. You may also like to try changing to other
languages, like Korean or Russian, to see if your problem affect
languages other than Simplified Chinese.

Best Regards,
CK

Dear CK,

As I found CK-ERP is quite complete but simple, is it practical? any
reference successful case?
I am trying the product, just wonder where I can input the initial
account balance.

Dear CK,

The demo site is working well in my environment. The different is I am
not using CK-ERP langauge switcher but using Joomla's. is it critical?

By the way, sorry to hear about your mother's news, and hope she is recovering.

Dave,

If you can use the CK-ERP language switcher, that means CK-ERP's i18n
features are working fine, and you should be able to operate (Joomla +
CK-ERP) in various languages without any problem. At the same time,
CK-ERP should be able to detect Joomla's language setting, and choose
the display language accordingly. However, family matter is the first
priority at the moment. I'll follow up on the Joomla language issue later.

Best Regards,
CK

Hi, Dave,

A standard message at the index page of the ck-ledger module says,

"To follow the logic of this module, you must have basic accounting
knowledge. Just ask how you would create the beginning account balances
and/or reverse an accrual entry in a manual ledger environment. If you
are not sure how these are done, pick up an accounting text and work
your way through."

One FAQ listed at ck-erp.org says,

Question: Where to enter (xxx) entries or perform (yyy) functions ?
Answer: The best way to find out is to do one round of clicking all
ck-xxx module icons and follow through all the header menu choices and
study all the subsequent system flows. It is also very important to read
in detail the entire content of each module's index page. The on-screen
prompt of each screen display will also provide contextual guide on how
to interpret the displayed text and figures. At the same time, CK-ERP is
designed for use by experienced accountants. If you are not familiar
with accounting operations, you should approach the accountant within
your organization and seek his/her assistance with regard to
CK-ERP-usage related queries.

These two messages show the basic philosophy in the construction of
CK-ERP and should give you indication whether CK-ERP is right for you.

Best Regards,
CK
