Title: Solar Heliospheric and Ionospheric Sessions in “A New Era in Astrophysics: Preparing for Early Science with the SKAO”

The SKA telescopes, located on two continents, will transform radio astronomy by exploring the Universe and fundamental
physics. SKA-Low in Western Australia will use 131,072 tree-like antennas (50-350 MHz), while SKA-Mid in South Africa will feature 197 dish antennas(350 MHz-25 GHz). 

We are pleased to announce the 2025 SKAO General Science Meeting, A new era in astrophysics: Preparing for early science with the SKAO, to be held in the week of 16-20 June in Görlitz, Germany.

The SKA will provide unparalleled opportunities for Solar, Heliospheric, and Ionospheric (SHI) sciences, enabling detailed studies of the Sun with
state-of-the-art technology, including some of the world’s fastest supercomputers. With the first commissioning activities already in
progress, this meeting highlights the critical goal of preparing for Science Verification in 2027.

The meeting will have common plenary sessions and parallel sessions for specific science working groups. The SHI science working group will have
parallel sessions. The SHI sciences incorporate all possible science cases at SKA radio wavelengths, such as multi-wavelength studies of solar flares,
coronal mass ejections, particle acceleration, radio wave propagation in corona, interplanetary scintillations studies, ionospheric sciences, etc...
We welcome presentation proposals highlighting exciting early SKA science with the AA* telescopes.
