Dear CESRA members,

As many of you know, the Square Kilometer Array (SKA) is now in construction. It is a next-generation radio astronomy-driven Big Data facility that will revolutionise our understanding of the Universe, including solar, heliospheric and ionospheric (SHI) sciences. There are 14 science working groups (SWG) in various science areas, of which SHI is one of them.

Ten years back, SKA published a science book including all areas: https://pos.sissa.it/215/
Now, there is a call to contribute to the new, updated book documenting the full breadth of science to be addressed by the SKA telescopes. As SHI was not present as a separate SWG  back then, it will now be important to represent our interest in this big facility. The book will form the basis of presentations and discussion at next year's SKAO General Science Meeting, to be held in the week of 16th-20th June in Görlitz, Germany.

The updated book will have SHI chapters, therefore I request you to participate in the conference and the chapter writing activity. The writing activity includes the submission of an abstract (deadline: 30th Sept 2024), followed by chapter writing (by 30th Jan 2025) and presenting at the conference at  Görlitz.
More details: https://www.skao.int/en/science-users/557/advancing-astrophysics-ii-preparing-science-skao
At the moment, we are required to submit an abstract of about 350 words requires a title, and a list of 5 authors. The author list can be extended at later stages.

As SHI-SWG chairs (Rohit Sharma & Pietro Zucca), we would coordinate the efforts of submission. Therefore, we also request you fill out this little form: https://forms.gle/4VJv343po7gwBiBs8. This will help us in gathering inputs and better arrangement of SHI science topics. As the deadline is close, please fill it in a day or two or asap.

In case of any queries, please write to Rohit (rsh...@iitk.ac.in) and Pietro (zu...@astron.nl).
Thanks and Cheers,
- Rohit & Pietro
