Division/Department Information
The Department of Psychology at St. John’s University is seeking applicants for a full-time tenure track faculty position at the rank of assistant professor to begin in fall 2023. The Department is eager to attract candidates that represent the rich diversity of the students and communities we are proud to serve in the New York Metropolitan area.

The Department of Psychology is committed to academic excellence and to preparing students to function in diverse professional, academic, and research roles. SJU’s clinical psychology Ph.D. and school psychology Psy.D. programs are APA accredited. Both programs receive excellent clinical training at our SJU Center for Psychological Services. We also offer two masters programs, including our M.A. in general psychology and NASP accredited M.S. in school psychology. Responsibilities
The Department of Psychology is looking for candidates who share a commitment to undergraduate and master’s level education and demonstrate potential for excellence in teaching and research. Preference will be given to applicants interested in teaching topics such as psychological measurement and graduate inferential statistics. Candidates should be committed to scholarly research in their area of expertise. In addition to teaching and scholarship, responsibilities will include service to the department, college, university, and external community. Candidates will be expected to mentor masters’ theses, with the option to also mentor doctoral dissertations.
Qualifications
A Ph.D. in psychology is required. Preference will be given to candidates who focus on developmental, social/personality, or cognitive psychology.
