The Department of Psychology at Hofstra University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant or early Associate Professor level, beginning September 2026, in our APA-accredited PsyD Program in School-Community Psychology ( https://www.hofstra.edu/psyd-school-community-psychology/ ) . We are seeking a passionate and innovative educator and clinician-scholar whose work bridges theory, research, and practice in School and Community Psychology and who is eager to contribute to a vibrant, student-centered department.
The ideal candidate will bring energy and expertise to doctoral-level teaching and supervision in areas such as Community Psychology, Preventive Mental Health, School Psychology intervention and assessment, or related topics. For highly qualified individuals, other areas of expertise will be considered. We especially welcome applicants who inspire students, integrate real-world experiences into the classroom, and promote socially responsive, culturally informed psychological practice and science.
Applicants are expected to develop a research program that actively involves students in second-year research projects and doctoral dissertations. Candidates with applied and research interests in childhood trauma are especially encouraged to apply, though we welcome a range of expertise within school and community psychology. Hofstra University has recently been designated a Carnegie Classification R2 Research University.
Our PsyD Program in School-Community Psychology is nationally recognized for its integrated training model, which includes three specialty clinics central to student training and community outreach:
The Diagnostic and Research Institute for Autism Spectrum Disorders
The Institute for Family Forensic Psychology
The Positive Psychology Institute for Emerging Adulthood

Qualifications:
PhD in Psychology or closely related field (completed by August 1, 2026)
Strong emphasis in School and/or Community Psychology
Background in clinical services, field supervision, and applied research
Licensed or license-eligible as a psychologist in New York State
Preferred Qualifications:
Doctoral degree in School-Community Psychology or a closely related field
Demonstrated success in teaching and mentoring graduate students
Evidence of scholarship through publications or equivalent professional contributions
Experience with community-based programming, preventive interventions, and culturally responsive practice
Certification as a school psychologist (NCSP preferred)
Salary Range: $90,000–$110,000
