The Department of Psychological and Social Foundations houses programs in the areas of School Psychology, Educational Psychology, Counselor Education, College Student Affairs, and Social Foundations. The Department has 23 full-time faculty members and offers degree programs at the M.A., Ed.S., and Ph.D. levels. The School Psychology Program offers Ed.S. and Ph.D. degrees; approximately 50 students are enrolled full-time in the programs. The doctoral program is accredited by the American Psychological Association and both the specialist and doctoral programs are approved by the National Association of School Psychologists. The program reflects a scientist-practitioner training philosophy in preparing school psychologists who emphasize evidence-based practices within an ecological problem-solving framework. The faculty are productive researchers and scholars and are actively involved at all levels of the profession. POSITION:
Assistant Professor of School Psychology, Department of Psychological & Social Foundations, College of Education; 9-month, tenure track, effective August 5, 2011. Major responsibilities include: teaching courses at the specialist and doctoral levels in areas such as assessment/intervention, consultation, systems change, professional practices or other areas of interest to the applicant; advising, supervising and mentoring students; supervising thesis and dissertation research; developing and maintaining an active program of research and scholarship; securing external funding to support research and training agendas; and providing service to the Program, Department, College, University, community, and profession. ABDs will be accepted but all degree requirements must be met by position start date of August 5, 2011.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
· An earned doctorate in School Psychology (from an APA-accredited and/or NASP-approved program) or a closely related field as of the date of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Training, research, and practice in comprehensive problem solving, linking assessment to intervention and intervention evaluation
· Expertise in assessment/intervention and program evaluation
· Expertise in consultation and systems change
· A program of research and scholarly work commensurate with the rank of Assistant Professor
· Experience as a school psychologist
· Experience with culturally and socio-economically diverse populations
· Successful teaching experience in higher education
· Evidence of potential for success in grant writing
· Evidence of the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment
· Demonstrated experience or potential for mentoring and supervising graduate students’ thesis and dissertation research
· Demonstrated experience or potential for mentoring and supervising graduate students’ professional practices and behavior
· Hold, or be eligible for and willing to seek, licensure as a psychologist in the State of Florida
