The School offers over 90 graduate degrees and certificates in more than 20 disciplines. The Counseling and Educational Psychology Department offers 4 graduate program areas: School Psychology, Quantitative and Qualitative Research Methodology, Human Development, and Counseling Psychology. The Department offers degree programs at the B.S., MSEd, EdS, and Ph.D. levels.
The School Psychology Program at Indiana University is accredited by the National Association of School Psychologists (EdS program) and the American Psychological Association (doctoral program). The program is grounded in the scientist-practitioner model in which graduates are prepared to solve problems associated with the personal, social, and educational development of children and youth from diverse cultural, economic, ethnic, and racial backgrounds. Emphasis is placed on the integration of research and practice, with the goal to instill in students the belief that the professional psychologist should use current knowledge to address the myriad of factors that may affect children’s development. The program also has a strong emphasis on social justice. Graduates of both programs are eligible for certification as a Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP) upon graduation. 95% of our EdS students go on to positions in public school settings, and we boast a 100% Ph.D. placement rate, with graduates in tenure-track faculty positions, research and clinical settings, and public schools.
