Hi Friends,

This is an action alert well worth taking a moment for.  The critical federal renewable energy Production Tax Credit (PTC) is set to expire at the end of 2008.  If it's not extended within the next couple of months, the renewable energy industry will likely grind to a halt amidst uncertainty about the critical credit, which helps lower the cost of renewables by 20-40%, making wind, geothermal and others cost-competitive with fossil fuels.

If the PTC isn't extended soon, the industry - which is set for a record year of growth, installed renewable energy capacity and job creation this year - will come to a crashing halt, risking more than 100,000 green collar jobs in the wind industry alone!  At a time of recession, the renewable energy industry is the one industry adding manufacturing jobs in the US, and yet Congress may not take action in time to keep this booming green energy sector on track.

Washington's Senator Maria Cantwell is leading the charge to extend the PTC with the "Clean Energy Tax Stimulus Act of 2008."  So far, Oregon and Washington's other three senators have yet to co-sponsor this critical bill (I believe).  Please take a moment to send our senators an urgent message and tell them to co-sponsor S.2821.

Let them know you are a member of the Cascade Climate Network where it asks you to put in your "organization" and tell them to ensure the growth of thousands of green jobs in the renewable energy industry by supporting this bill.

Take action here through the American Wind Energy Association's website: http://capwiz.com/windenergy/issues/alert/?alertid=11232886

When you are done, spread the word to your friends.

Cheers,

Jesse Jenkins
