Frank Mulich will be tonight’s ride leader with able bodied assistance from GT. Make sure to follow “the most important rule” and to let one of the ride leaders know if you need to bail so nobody feels inclined to go back to find you. Don’t forget your lights and 2 bottles since it will be warm and you will need the fluid. There is a water fountain between 48 and 49 at the Alm’s Park regroup point in case you need to fill up again.

7HR Thursday Billy Goat Ride
Departure: 6:15PM Corner of Wilmer and Airport Rd. in the parking lot in front of Lunken Airport Terminal
Total Distance: About 26 miles with 3200 feet of climb, longer if you follow the MOST IMPORTANT RULE.
Return Time: 8PM - 8:30PM
Required Equipment: Lights and reflective clothing.
Visual Route: http://www.mapmyride.com/route/us/oh/cincinnati/726880541881
* Most Important Rule – At each of the REGROUP points below in the call sheet, loop back down to the last rider and ride back to the top with them. You should not be seen waiting at these points for other riders unless you are gassed.
* There will be between 15 and 22 significant climbs during the ride. Again, stronger riders should be looping back down to bring up the rear. If you are cresting climbs too quickly, try pushing a bigger gear to slow yourself down.
* This is a training ride structured to build power, stamina, and test your limits of endurance. This is not a hill race; please don't try to push the pace.
* If you need to cry "uncle", you can bail out at any time. Just let someone know you are bailing so that we aren't left wondering if we left you behind or had a mechanical that nobody noticed, etc. and then go back looking for you.
* Have FUN. This is a really hard ride, but its a blast sharing the experience with other committed riders.

All are welcome at this ride, but you ride with the group at your own risk and understand cycling is an inherently dangerous activity, taking place on traffic-maintained roads, that may cause injury or death. By participating, you specifically release and indemnify 7HR, its members, sponsors, friends and leadership from any responsibility for any incident resulting from your actions, or the actions of others, or behavior before, during, or following the ride. You warrant you will wear an ANSI-approved helmet, and that you maintain valid health insurance. If you are under age 18, you warrant you have parent or guardian permission to do this ride, and that the person that granted you permission understands the risks.
Last week’s turnout was around 15 and I heard a lot of great reviews of the ride from those who made it. I look forward to seeing your eager faces for this week’s installment of the most famous ride on the East Side!
Weather forecast for tomorrow: A shower or two possible early with partly cloudy skies in the afternoon. High 49F. Winds WNW at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 30%. Translation: The ride will most likely be a go but it will be damp and chilly. Don’t wear shorts. J
If it is raining at the time of ride start or the roads are saturated with water the ride will be cancelled. This is for everyone’s safety as some of these hills are really steep and it’s just not worth getting injured sliding out going down a hill or slipping on wet leaves.
I’ll be there personally to lead the ride and will do my best to complete the course. I am not in my best form by a long shot, so you should expect me to be bringing up the rear, but you know me, I am not a quitter. So, if you are on the fence about coming out because you aren’t sure if you can hack it, come out and keep me company. As for you true goats, I expect you to be doing hill repeats to help me get my fat butt up the climbs!
Big thanks to Matt Baker at Reser Bicycle Outfitters for getting my drive train roto-rooted and working properly again this week!
