The Board of the Canadian Association for Victim Assistance, and our partners, the Canadian Centre for Abuse Awareness and Victim Services of Peel, would like to thank everyone who attended our conference and helped make it such a resounding success.  We are only as strong as the support we receive from our membership; thank you for showing us we're moving in the right direction!

Over the next few weeks electronic copies of many of the presentations given at the conference will be made available through the CAVA website:
An announcement will be made when the presentations are posted.

This listserv, now renamed the "CAVA Conference and Events" listserv, will maintained and used to make announcements on upcoming CAVA conferences, training or special events.

If you wish to have your e-mail address removed from this list, you can do so yourself by sending an e-mail to
or contact the listserv administrator at: ca...@vaonline.org and request to be removed from the CAVA Conference listserv.

Future events: While no specific dates have been set as yet, CAVA is presently  considering two events.  The first would be a training event, possibly held in conjunction with Canada's Victim of Crime Awareness Week 2007.  The second is our next national Conference, tentatively slated for Spring 2008.  More information on these events, their contents and locations will be announced as plans firm up.

Finally, there was much discussion during the conference about the need for CAVA to help promote communication and networking between members. While our members may not be aware of it, CAVA has another e-mail discussion list / listserv which allows open communication between members.  Called CAVA Members, this listserv is open only to paid CAVA members, or who attended the recent conference and thus received a free membership.

CAVA Members is a moderated listserv, which means messages are monitored;  breaches of professionalism and respectful behaviour will result in disciplinary action, as is deemed necessary for the good of the forum and the protection of our membership.

If you wish to join the CAVA Members listserv, please send me an e-mail containing your name, organization (if any)  and e-mail address to: ca...@vaonline.org

Thank You
