LAST DAY TO APPLY!!

CASJ Coalition Organizers! Today is the last day to sign up for the Bring It! weekend organizing training.  If you would like to attend this training CASJ can help cover transportation and registration fee.  Apply here: http://www.waysidecenter.org/bring-it-spring-2013-youth-organizing-weekend/

Bring It! Youth Organizing Weekend - March 22-24 - Wayside Center for Popular Education

The Bring It! Youth Organizing Weekend is an intensive, 2-day introduction to social movement work and organizing skills. Designed for new organizers generally in the age range of 18-24, the weekend will cover big picture questions like “What is a social movement” and “How do I leverage power through organizing” all the way down to nitty gritty workshops on how to run meetings, use art in activism, and getting your message out. Every weekend is somewhat shaped by the group of participants, so no Bring It! Weekend is the same, or covers the same topics.

Participants come from organizations, colleges, and universities from all over the South and Mid-Atlantic. We work with a wide network of trainers, so we have new and old faces at every Bring It! Weekend. Wayside also invites a movement elder to attend part of each weekend. We have been fortunate to have inspiring organizers from a variety of backgrounds, including prison industrial complex organizing, Black liberation struggles, housing and immigrant justice movements, and more. This time we'll be joined by Kwasi Seitu. He'll share stories and inspiration from his life of organizing against prisons and the (ın)justice system in the South and in DC over the weekend workshops.

The Spring Bring It! Will take place March 22-24. Apply here: http://www.waysidecenter.org/bring-it-spring-2013-youth-organizing-weekend/

The weekend registration fee is $50-75 sliding scale. We would love to work with you to fundraise the money if your school or organization cannot cover your registration fee!

Applications are due March 8th. Info and application are here.
