Dear Colleagues

As you might all be aware, the SARPAM Civil Society Pact has supported the Tendai Project since 2011 using mobile based technology

The networks of trained civil society monitors have been collecting clinic-level surveys of the availability of medicines, as well as personal stories and photographic evidence that demonstrate everyday challenges that people face accessing essential medicines and healthcare.

But I often get asked as to what exactly TENDAI stands for?

There are two possible answers!

1. It is a gender neutral name in Shona language meaning 'thank you'. Tendai is the proto type of the average SADC citizen who needs to easily access medicines at a local community level

2. TENDAI was coined by the CAF Zimbabwe Co-ordinator Mrs Caroline Mubaira. It also stands for 'Tracking Essential National Medicines and Diagnostics Access Initiative'
