Washington is qualified social scientist specialising in advanced social justice and policy analysis.
He was part (Chairperson) of the group that created and developed the Tendai project, a civil society initiative to gather information/evidence on access/availability of medicines and health delivery services in SADC countries with a view to use that data to influence policy changes to improve health delivery services within the region.
He is the Coordinator of the Regional Consumer Action Forum. One of the key objectives of the Regional CAF is to develop a resource mobilisation strategy to fund efforts of the CS to scale up consumer action on improving access to medicines considering all available options in the SADC region
In the past 5 years he has participated in building a broader network of community-level civil society organisations participating in advocacy, awareness, information-gathering and conversations about access to medicines and health delivery services in Malawi, Tanzania and Zimbabwe, and connect this to networks across Southern Africa (Zambia, South Africa, Lesotho and Mozambique).
