Brussels unveils major energy, industry and climate proposals. The European Commission will unveil a sweeping set of energy, industrial and environmental proposals next week as part of its Clean Industrial Deal implementation effort, beginning with a Clean Energy Investment Strategy focused on tools to mobilize private capital for grids, storage, hydrogen networks and digitalized energy infrastructure. Brussels will also present the Industrial Decarbonisation Accelerator Act to ease permitting and reporting for energy-intensive sectors, alongside proposed adjustments to the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism. A dedicated automotive package will outline revisions to the 2035 carbon dioxide standards, a 1.8 billion euro Battery Booster Strategy and an Automotive Omnibus package covering fleet-greening measures. Additionally, the European Commission will release its European Grids Package to accelerate upgrades and permitting for electricity networks amid rapid electrification. In parallel, EU negotiators aim to finalize talks next week on the updated EU Climate Law, which introduces a binding 2040 emissions-reduction target.
