Dear colleagues,
Art and I visited the Carleton Tavern yesterday and spoke with the co-owner. Art examined how we would set up technically and was satisfied with the set-up.
We have arranged for a warm and delicious menu: pizza all dressed and vegetarian, lasagna and a large bowl of salad, along with tea&coffee. Of course those wishing to have wine/beer/pop can buy this seperately. The cost will be $25. This includes tax and gratuities. Depending on our number we can make $25-$150.
There is room for about 10 cars at the back of the tavern and metered parking across the street (only $1/hour or you can park a few blocks away for free.
The only inconvenience is that there is a stair case but Art managed this very well with his cane.
We hope to have between 15-25 members. If there are more Phil’s staff can provide.
As I mentioned in the past, this is a historical place with its own “cachet”. When we arrived there was an elderly gentleman seated by the window, writing and reading. Phil our host told us he can every Friday by bus and he was 92 years old. He told Art and I other stories which we can share. I am very sorry Phil will not be there but maybe the next time.
I have prepared the regular announcement we would use for these events. For the time being I have place my email address to register. If all of you are ok with this the announcement will go out Sunday or Monday. Will work out arrangements with Raymond and David Head.
Have a nice weekend
Best
Madeleine
