So now America has officially entered 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒇𝒖𝒄𝒌 𝒂𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒅, 𝒇𝒊𝒏𝒅 𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒑𝒉𝒂𝒔𝒆 of automotive manufacturing. Congratulations. You did it. You took one of the absolute lifebloods of your economy, the thing you literally *built your national mythology on*, and you shoved it face-first into a woodchipper.
This is the country that didn’t just make cars, it 𝒊𝒏𝒗𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒎𝒂𝒔𝒔 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒅𝒖𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏. Henry Ford didn’t just put America on wheels, he rewired the global economy. Assembly lines, middle-class jobs, unions, pensions, entire cities built around stamping steel and bolting engines together. Detroit was the Vatican of combustion engines. And now? Now Donald Trump comes barging in like a fucking toddler on Red Bull inside a China shop, swinging tariffs around like a plastic sword, screaming “𝑨𝑴𝑬𝑹𝑰𝑪𝑨 𝑭𝑰𝑹𝑺𝑻” while quietly sawing the legs off the table America is standing on. This isn’t some abstract policy debate. This is a direct gut punch to American auto manufacturing. You don’t feel it immediately because the US economy is massive. It’s like the Titanic. When it hit the iceberg, the band kept playing. People were still sipping champagne. Nobody wanted to believe the ship was fucked. But guess what? Physics doesn’t give a shit about vibes. And while America is busy chest-thumping, threatening allies, and lighting trade relationships on fire, the rest of the world is calmly doing the opposite. Canada, for example, just openly said the quiet part out loud. They’re attracting major joint-venture Chinese investment to build out their EV manufacturing base. They’re allowing a limited number of Chinese EVs into their market, less than 50,000, not to surrender industry, but to 𝒃𝒖𝒚 𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆 while their domestic sector scales up. Affordable cars for consumers now, industrial capacity for the future later. That’s called strategy. Right now the band in America is still playing, CNBC is still smiling, the Dow is doing its little jazz hands. But underneath, the water’s rushing in. Supply chains are rerouting. Investment is quietly walking out the back door. Alliances are being forged without America in the room. And China? Oh my god, China is 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒊𝒏𝒈 this. Trump is a fucking gift basket to Beijing. A big, red-white-and-blue gift basket wrapped in ego and incompetence. Every time he throws a tantrum, another country goes, “Hey, maybe we should diversify away from this absolute psycho.” Canada says, “We’ll take the investment.” Europe says, “We’ll lock in our own industrial base.” Asia says, “Cool, we’ll trade with each other.” And America’s sitting there yelling, “𝒀𝑶𝑼 𝑵𝑬𝑬𝑫 𝑼𝑺,” while everyone quietly updates their contacts list. This is what decoupling actually looks like. Not a dramatic breakup. Just a slow realization that you can’t build the future with someone who keeps flipping the table because they lost an election and never emotionally recovered. And the saddest part? It’s not MAGA who’ll suffer. Those people don’t give a shit. They’ll blame immigrants, wind turbines, or a drag queen reading a book to a toddler. It’s the good people. The factory workers. The engineers. The people who actually 𝒃𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒅 in America as a serious country. They’re the ones who’ll feel this ten, fifteen, twenty years down the line when the plants don’t get built, the jobs don’t come back, and the innovation happens somewhere else. All because 77 million absolute mouth-breathers looked at a convicted felon, an insurrectionist, a walking HR violation, and said, “Yeah, give him the keys again.” So yeah. Fuck MAGA. Fuck the Republicans who enabled this. I’ve got zero sympathy for the people cheering while the hull cracks open. But to the sane Americans out there, the ones who didn’t ask for this circus, my heart genuinely goes out to you. Stay strong. History shows storms pass. Just don’t kid yourselves. This one is going to take decades to repair.
