Hi all,

Just read a horror story of someone's boat catching on fire from propane
tank. We Don't use the stove at all and don't really plan to. Wondering if
I need to maintain the propane tank in anyway all the same - or if we
don't use it do I skip maintenance on it?

If you have no intention of using your stove, it would be a good idea to see if the tank can be removed/drained. Why keep the propane on board at all then?  However, I don't know the process for draining a tank ...... maybe talk to a propane refill place.

Just take it off the boat. I would save it and not disable any of the components so they are available to the next owner. I have not heard of any problems with Catalina 320 and propane tanks over the last 25 years.

If you never use the propane, it’s probably best to get the tank off the
boat as others have suggested. We take ours home every fall and use up
any remaining propane on our home BBQ grill, that way we always start the
season with a full tank. Don’t think we’ve ever gone through a whole tank
of propane in a a season.

Might there be an issue with seals and valves down the line if you take
the tank off the boat and do not cap off the line?
Just thinking the salty dampness inside the pipes might degrade them
faster than propane.
