I'd second Jack's comments below - We used to get a wrap about every 2 days
or so, anchored in the field at Nantucket, thanks to fast flowing tides,
rope rode and variable winds. Kellet sorted it out.
If you do get a wrap however then the most reliable way I found to getting
out of it was to tow the uptide stern quarter, uptide, to relieve tension on
the rode then across tide in the direction the stern was previously lying
before easing back and allowing the boat to drift back down tide outside the
loop of rode. I found this doable with a 6hp outboard on a mercury 310 rib
but perhaps not easy with less power. During the process my wife had the
main engine on but in neutral so that if necessary she could deal with the
anchor popping out, which thankfully it never did! All hail the mighty
rocna!
