Job Title: Azure Active Directory (Entra ID) Engineer

Remote Job

12 months contract

 

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Azure Active Directory (Entra ID) Engineer to design, implement, manage, and optimize the organization’s identity infrastructure in Microsoft Azure. This role will focus heavily on setup, administration, cleanup, and governance of Azure AD to ensure secure, scalable, and compliant identity management.

 

Key Responsibilities

Azure AD Setup & Implementation

Design and deploy Azure Active Directory (Entra ID) environments

Configure tenant setup, domains, and identity architecture

Implement Hybrid Identity solutions using Azure AD Connect

Configure SSO (Single Sign-On) for enterprise applications

Implement and enforce Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) policies

Set up Conditional Access policies based on security requirements

Azure AD Management

Manage users, groups, roles, and permissions

Administer Enterprise Applications and App Registrations

Maintain RBAC (Role-Based Access Control) across Azure services

Monitor identity health, sign-in activity, and audit logs

Troubleshoot authentication and authorization issues

Manage license assignments and usage optimization

 

Cleanup & Optimization

Perform regular identity cleanup activities, including:

Removing inactive/stale users and groups

Cleaning up orphaned accounts and unused roles

Reviewing and removing unused enterprise applications

Conduct access reviews and entitlement cleanups

Optimize group memberships and role assignments

Ensure naming standards and governance policies are followed

Identify and remediate over-permissioned accounts

 

Security & Governance

Enforce least privilege access model

Configure and monitor Identity Protection policies

Implement Privileged Identity Management (PIM)

Perform access reviews and certification campaigns

Support compliance audits (ISO, SOC2, GDPR, etc.)

Monitor and respond to identity-based threats

 

Automation & Integration

Automate tasks using PowerShell / Azure CLI / Graph API

Build automated workflows for:

User provisioning and de-provisioning

Integrate Azure AD with:

HR systems, CRM tools, and third-party applications

Support identity lifecycle management

 

Required Skills & Qualifications

Technical Skills

Strong hands-on experience with:

Azure Active Directory (Entra ID)

Azure AD Connect / Hybrid Identity

Expertise in:

SSO, MFA, Conditional Access

Authentication protocols: SAML, OAuth, OpenID Connect

 

Proficiency in:

PowerShell scripting

Microsoft Graph API (preferred)

Security & IAM Knowledge

Deep understanding of IAM concepts:

RBAC, least privilege, identity governance

 

Experience with:

Privileged Identity Management (PIM)

Identity security best practices

Familiarity with audit and compliance processes

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computer science / IT or related field

Certifications:

Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator (SC-300)

Azure Administrator (AZ-104)

Experience with:

Azure Security Center / Microsoft Sentinel

Identity Governance tools
