Job Title: Lead Python Engineer

Location: Irvine, CA (Hybrid – 3 days onsite per week, local candidates only)
Client: Sapient
Duration: 6–12 months
Visa: USC, GC, GC EAD, H4 EAD

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Python Engineer with strong technical leadership experience to join our client’s team in Irvine, CA. This role requires expertise in Python, PySpark/dbt, SQL, ETL frameworks, and the ability to work across globally distributed teams. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in the investment management domain (Asset/Wealth), contribute to design and architecture discussions, and act as a strong collaborator with excellent client engagement skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and deployment of Python-based applications with a focus on object-oriented programming and ETL frameworks (PySpark, dbt, etc.).

  • Write and optimize SQL queries for Oracle and MS SQL databases to support data processing and reporting.

  • Collaborate with a globally distributed team, ensuring alignment across development, testing, and delivery.

  • Contribute to system architecture and solution design discussions, providing technical leadership and guidance.

  • Support investment management domain applications, particularly in Asset and Wealth Management use cases.

  • Work with AWS services (S3, EKS, containerization) to support cloud-based deployments.

  • Develop and manage ETL workflows using Autosys and PowerCenter.

  • Write and maintain shell scripts and Unix commands to support automation and system operations.

  • Act as a technical leader and mentor, fostering collaboration and driving delivery excellence.

  • Engage with clients directly to gather requirements, provide status updates, and ensure business needs are met.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong hands-on experience with Python (object-oriented programming).

  • Expertise in PySpark/dbt and similar ETL frameworks.

  • Advanced SQL coding skills with proficiency in Oracle and MS SQL.

  • Experience with AWS cloud services (S3, EKS, containerization).

  • Strong knowledge of ETL and scheduling tools such as Autosys and PowerCenter.

  • Proficiency in Shell scripting and Unix commands.

  • Excellent collaboration, communication, and client-facing skills.

  • Ability to contribute to system design and architecture discussions.

  • Experience in the investment management domain (Asset/Wealth Management).

  • Must be local to Irvine, CA and able to work onsite 3 days per week.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a technical leadership role.

  • Familiarity with globally distributed teams and Agile methodologies.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage complex technical projects.
