Job Description:

 

Senior Product Owner (PO) in the Claims & Dispute Domain is a specialized role focused on creating and optimizing digital tools that manage the end-to-end process of insurance claims, customer disputes, or financial reconciliations. They bridge the gap between technical development teams and business users (adjusters, risk managers, legal teams) to ensure the product maximizes efficiency, compliance, and user satisfaction.

 

Job Description Summary

The Product Owner drives the product vision for claims and dispute systems. They act as the "voice of the customer," gathering requirements from stakeholders, maintaining a prioritized backlog, and guiding the development team to deliver functional software that reduces manual work and improves accuracy in dispute resolution.

 

Key Responsibilities

Backlog Management: Define, refine, and prioritize user stories for claims processing, investigation, and settlement workflows.

Stakeholder Collaboration: Act as the primary liaison between business users (e.g., Claims Adjusters) and the technology team, translating complex insurance regulations into technical requirements.

Strategic Roadmap: Develop and execute the product roadmap, ensuring alignment with company goals for automation, fraud detection, and customer service.

Process Optimization: Analyze existing claim workflows to identify bottlenecks, aiming for improved operational efficiency and faster turnaround times.

User Acceptance Testing (UAT): Review and accept completed work from developers to ensure it meets acceptance criteria and business requirements.

Data-Driven Decisions: Use metrics and analytics to track the success of product features (e.g., claims processing time, accuracy rates).

 

Domain Knowledge & Experience Required

Claims Management: Strong understanding of insurance or financial claims processes (e.g., FNOL - First Notice of Loss, liability investigation, subrogation, litigation).

Dispute Resolution: Knowledge of financial dispute regulations (e.g., Regulation E/Z, Card Network rules like Visa/Mastercard dispute processes).

Regulatory Compliance: Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., HIPAA for health claims, state-specific insurance regulations).

Agile Methodology: Experience working in Scrum or SAFe environments, using tools like Jira or Trello.

Experience Level: Typically requires 3-7+ years of experience in product management, business analysis, or directly in claims operations.

 

Essential Skills

Product Definition: Translating complex user needs into actionable technical specifications.

Analytical Skills: Solving complex problems and identifying opportunities to improve operational efficiency.

Communication: Articulating complex ideas to both technical teams and business stakeholders.

Product Mindset: Focusing on user experience (UX) to ensure high adoption of tools by agents.

 

Key Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or Computer Science (or equivalent experience).

Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or similar agile certification is a plus.

Background in banking, insurance, or financial services technology (FinTech).
